The 2024 CAIR Conference is
November 6-8, 2024 in San Francisco, CA.


Pre-conference workshop and early bird reception on November 5, 2024.

This year’s conference theme is The Power of Storytelling for Decision Making: Crafting Compelling Narratives with the Utilization of Data.

The theme will focus on:

  • the latest data analytics tools and techniques
  • how to use analytics to draw insights
  • how to communicate these insights
  • the elements of compelling storytelling
  • how to develop a storytelling strategy

**Registration Detail

  • Early Bird Full Conference: $595 (+applicable app charges)  – until 8/31/2024 extended to 9/16/2024.
  • *Regular Full Conference: $685 (+applicable app charges) – 11/8/2024.
  • One Day Registration: $295 (+applicable app charges) – until 11/8/2024.
  • Retiree Registration: $295 (+applicable app charges) – until 11/8/2024.

*If you are interested in the student rate of $295 (+applicable app charges), please email Mike Le, CAIR Vice President and Chair of the Conference App and Registration Management Committee, at vicepresident@cair.org to submit proof of student status and receive a discount code. To receive the student discount, one must be enrolled in school full-time and employed less than full-time.

**Requests for refunds must be made in writing and directed to CAIR’s treasurer (treasurer@cair.org) by October 11, 2024. No refunds will be made after that date except: 1) in cases involving the death or serious illness/injury of the conference registrant or an immediate family member; 2) situations where a natural disaster has created undue hardship for registrants to attend; 3) in cases that are in the best interest of the California Association for Institutional Research; or 4) if the conference is canceled because it cannot be held legally and/or safely.

Free IPEDS Workshop

The Association for Institutional Research (AIR) and the California Association for Institutional Research (CAIR) are co-hosting two half-day IPEDS Workshops on Tuesday, November 5, 2024.  There is no cost to attend, financial support is provided by the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES).  Attendees may sign up for more than one pre-conference workshop.

CAIR has reserved a block of rooms at the conference venue at a discounted rate of $235-275/night plus applicable taxes and fees.

Transportation

The closest airport is San Francisco International Airport (13 miles away). From the airport, attendees have the options of Lyft/Uber rides, public transit, and rental cars. 

Public transit takes a little over 30 minutes using the Bay Area Rapid Transit, also known as BART. The SFO BART Station is located on the Departures/Ticketing Level of the International Terminal (G Gates side). BART is easily accessed from any terminal by riding SFO’s AirTrain to the Garage G/BART Station stop. There is no charge to board AirTrain. Clipper Cards can be purchased at the SFO BART Station upon arrival. Take the red or yellow line into San Franciso and exit the Powell Street BART station. Take the Escalator to Market Street and Cable Cars and walk four minutes to the hotel.

Parking

Parking: Attendees get $5.00 off the daily rates for overnight parking. As of now, parking is around $85 per night + taxes; however, this is subject to change. Attendees are not encouraged to drive to the hotel. However, should you choose to park, please let the front desk know about the $5.00 discount upon check-in so they can get the discount added.
